"Family Owned and Operated

Cobble Hill Chapels located at 171 Court St. Brooklyn, New York is owned and operated by Gregory De John who purchased it from its original owner in 1983 .

Born in the Sunset Park Section of Brooklyn in 1954, Gregory and his family have maintained strong ties to his old neighborhood and St. Agatha's RC Church. He attended St. Agatha's as a child, and then went to Bishop Ford High School and John Jay College where he graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice.

After attending several funerals, Gregory felt the "Calling" to enter funeral services. He entered American Academy McAllister Institute of Mortuary Science and graduated in 1977. After completing an apprenticeship, he was licensed as a New York State Funeral Director.

At that time he purchased the Parkville Funeral Home on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn.  He was also an embalmer to the trade, for various Brooklyn Funeral Homes, Cobble Hill Chapels included.  When the original owner of Cobble Hill Chapels retired, Gregory purchased the Funeral Home and has serviced the families of Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill, Red Hook and Sunset Park In fact, all neighborhoods with the utmost respect, honesty and dignity that everyone deserves.

In 1999, he married Paula Intelisano who he first met in Mortuary College.  Paula and her family own Silverton Memorial Funeral Home in Toms River, NJ.  Realizing that many of his families have moved to New Jersey, Gregory obtained his New Jersey Funeral Directors License and is now affiliated with Silverton Memorial Funeral Home.

It is the goal of Gregory and his staff to provide the families they serve with the utmost concern and attention to their every wish and to guide them through a difficult time in their life.
